Loving Our Enemy…

Loving Our Enemy…

We have a lot of praying ahead. We have a lot of forgiving ahead. In the very near future we will experience a lot of cheek turning.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. ~Matthew 5:43-45

Probably one of the single most difficult commandments in the entire Holy Bible. Allowing hatred to capture our hearts and infiltrate our minds creates poison that runs deep in our veins. This poison runs throughout the entire body. We must turn to Jesus Christ as soon as our heart misses a beat, our mind begins to blacken in order to cut off the flow into our flesh.

When we realize that someone doesn’t care about us, hates us or has their sights set against us, what shall we do? Pray for them? Bless them?

Earlier today this song [I know] came on the radio and an image appeared.

One person standing before another.

One of them holding a gun and pointing it at the other. The person having a gun pointed into his face begins saying these words to the person holding the gun – “I know that you are good. I know that you are kind. I know that you are so much more than what is left behind.” What a beautiful image! What a way to stop a violent act. What an incredible testimony to our Savior. Source

The vision I was given is a person living in Jesus Christ and has zero fear. Fear is not even part of their vocabulary. When do we lose the shackles and begin living in Christ Jesus? What does our life mean without Jesus Christ? The person with the gun may as well pull the trigger as it doesn’t matter if we are walking dead or laying down dead – dead is dead.

Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is:
‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” ~Mark 5:29-31 NKJB

Jesus Christ, Almighty God, I want to live. I want to live in the fullness of Your bounty, the fullness of Your love, the fullness of Your Light. Allow me to be a vessel for Your Light to illuminate others and show the path clear to Your mercy, to Your grace and to Your holiness.

Either the Gospel is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
