Even When We Were Dead In Sins…

Even When We Were Dead In Sins…

Attacks from the devil usually begin in the mind. Not always but a good majority of lust, sin and Spiritual problems we deal with begin in our mind. Paul talks a lot about lust, the flesh and the mind. It seems he, better than most, understood how the devil speaks in the air and we hear the lies and believe them to be true. We then act upon those lies that have floated into our mind, attacked our heart and been made manifest, in some form, in our hands.

And you has he quickened (made alive), who were dead in trespasses and sins; wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience: among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. ! Ephesians 2:1-3 KJB

What we see in our mind usually shows up in our hands. Not necessarily what we saw in our mind, although it can, but usually it morphs into some other thing. We may have looked upon a woman with lustful thoughts and what shows up is anger at our children or spouse. What showed up in our mind as thoughts of taking drugs or excessive alcohol use, manifest in reality as watching pornography. It twists and turns and wrath, or evil, makes its way through our system and begins “changing mask” in order to hide its trail from origin. This creates more confusion in our mind, that hardens our heart and creates a little more darkness in our lives.

It doesn’t have to be this way. We must work, train, fall down, get back up and continually work, train, fall down and get back up to renew our mind and turn our mind towards God, through His Son, Jesus Christ and continually accept the grace of God, for His Son Jesus Christ has given us grace, not by our works, but by His love for us.

But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, has quickened us (made alive) together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. ~ Ephesians 2:4-7 KJB

Our mind can be the most beautiful place we ever visit. It can also be the most tragic scene we have ever witnessed. What is in our mind is determined by our faith in Jesus Christ. Wether we buy the lies or plant a garden can only be determined what comes to our mind either through the Holy Spirit or the prince of the air of this world. Whom do we listen?

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
