Put Your Hand On The Bow…

Put Your Hand On The Bow…

When we are little children it is not uncommon for an adult, usually a parent or grandparent, to ask us “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Cowboy, astronaut, pirate, princess, nurse, ballerina or some other “profession” that has nothing to do with who we are. We almost always identify ourselves by what we do instead of who we are in Christ.

We are the counterculture. We are in this world but we are not of this world. Our lives are operated by the will of God, not by the dictates of worldly authority. We stand in the gap when othIIers flee, as the world has said “that’s impossible”. When the devil says run, we stand, when the devil says stand, we run. That’s how we know we are following the will of God, because it goes against everything that is of this world.

When there is nothing but bad news at every turn, we are the Good News of Truth. When darkness envelopes our family the Light of the Lord shines through us as a beacon of Hope.

We are our Father’s child. We are no longer slaves to sin and we will not stand idly by and allow the devil to run roughshod through that which belongs to God. As Elisha spoke to the king of Israel and delivered the Word of God…

Then he said to the king of Israel, “Put your hand on the bow.” So he put his hand on it, and Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands. And he said, “Open the east window”; and he opened it. Then Elisha said, “Shoot”; and he shot. And he said, “The arrow of the Lord’s deliverance and the arrow of deliverance from Syria; for you must strike the Syrians at Aphek till you have destroyed them.” Then he said, “Take the arrows”; so he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground”; ~ II Kings 13:16-18 NKJB

While the king of Israel only struck the ground three times we will spike 100 time, 1,000 times as long as we have breath as to honor our Almighty God who pours His strength into our bones as long as we honor, praise and glorify Him and His mighty works through the name of Jesus Christ. We are the counterculture and we will not be denied as our God is our strength and our rock. We will follow His will and hold up name above all names.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
