No, But I Will Surely Buy It For A Price…

Other people can see the Lord moving through our lives before our eyes see any change. We make our repentance before God, before community and immediately the Lord begins making changes in our lives. Most of which we are unaware.

We recognize our sins, our trespasses against God, and God alone, so that we can clean our heart, clean our soul and make way for the King of kings to take His rightful place, at the forefront of our lives. We can not make the Lord our Power if our heart, mind, soul and strength are burdened with guilt and shame. We must turn our eyes and ears back to God.

Now Araunah said to David, “Let my lord the king take and offer up whatever seems good to him. Look, here are oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing implements and the yokes of the oxen for wood. All these, O king, Araunah has given to the king.”
And Araunah said to the king, “May the Lord your God accept you.” ~ II Samuel 24:22-23 NKJB

We need not “burnt offerings” – burnt sacrifice, for the Lord wants our obedience, not an offering born of our iniquity, but our heart is what the Lord seeks from us. Repentance, so that He may know we know that He knows we have sinned before Him and Him alone. Our sins may hurt others, but they hurt the Father most.

Other people are willing to help us, lend an ear to hear our testimony, provide us resources to clear the debris in order to see us change and to watch our love of the Lord rebound and grow to glorify Him before ourselves and before the whole world. People will help us. They will go out of their way, sacrifice for us to set our lives straight before God.

We must bear the price of our iniquities, we must be ready to offer all in order to make our repentance before the Lord and another human being. King David does exactly this…

Then the king said to Araunah, “No, but I will surely buy it from you for a price; nor will I offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God with that which costs me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver. ~ II Samuel 24:24 NKJB

We must pay for our sins. It doesn’t mean we have to pay with oxen or money it means we must sacrifice. It is only when we offer ourselves, our heart, our mind and our soul to the Lord that the “plague” of unrighteousness is withdrawn. We can now give Him, our Savior, all praise, honor and glory for what He has done in our lives as we now have eyes to see and ears to hear. What He has done, we do not deserve.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
