Chauvin, a former Minneapolis Department Oficer, faces three charges: second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter. But a conviction for manslaughter would not be enough, Waters said. The guilty verdict had to be for murder — which, she added, ought to have been first-degree murder.
