Wealth or Riches?

Wealth or Riches?

When we are young and filled with ideas of how our lives will be most of us see ourselves as being wealthy and having lots of money. Then, reality sets in and most, not all, but a significant portion of us realize we are not going to be fabulously wealthy and flying around the world in our private jet. We must accept this as fact.

Some of us learn along the way about the riches that already fill our lives, others take the long road and, still others, may never learn.

This past Sunday during worship and as we were singing the words began to seep into my soul and paint a picture that ran from childhood, through young adulthood and wound through where my life is today. It was a sobering moment of how Jesus has been chasing me my entire life. While He continually reached out a hand I continually walked or ran away. Seeing the moment that I honestly stopped running and allowed the love of Christ to fill me then and fills me today, was a beautiful end to an incredible Spirit filled moment.

Paul discusses something like this in Galatians

Galatians 4 NKJV

1 Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all,
2 but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father.
3E ven so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world.
4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman born under the law,
5 to redeem those who were under the law, (John 1:12)that we might receive the adoption as sons.
6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth he Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”
7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
