Trump: Rep. Tlaib ‘Obviously Has Tremendous Hatred of Israel and the Jewish People’ By Michael W. Chapman for CNS News

Commenting on Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s (D-Mich.) remarks that the Holocaust gives her a “kind of calming feeling” because it was her ancestors, Palestinians, “who lost their land,” their “livelihood,” and “their human dignity” to “create a safe haven for Jews” in Israel, President Donald Trump tweeted that Tlaib “obviously has a tremendous hatred of Israel and the Jewish people.”

“Democrat Rep. Tlaib is being slammed for her horrible and highly insensitive statement on the Holocaust,” tweeted President Trump on May 13.

(Twitter.)

“She obviously has tremendous hatred of Israel and the Jewish people,” he said.  “Can you imagine what would happen if I ever said what she said, and says?”

On Saturday, May 11, an interview with Rep. Tlaib on the Yahoo! News podcast “Skullduggery” was published. Also on the show were New York Times White House reporter Peter Baker and co-hosts Michael Isikoff and Daniel Klaidman.

Taling about Israeli-Palestinan relations, Rep. Tlaib said, “There’s always kind of a calming feeling, I tell folks, when I think of the Holocaust, and the tragedy of the Holocaust, and the fact that it was my ancestors — Palestinians — who lost their land and some lost their lives, their livelihood, their human dignity, their existence in many ways, have been wiped out, and some people’s passports.”

“And, just all of it was in the name of trying to create a safe haven for Jews, post-the Holocaust, post-the tragedy and the horrific persecution of Jews across the world at that time,” said the congresswoman.

“I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that, right, in many ways. But they did it in a way that took their human dignity away, right? And it was forced on them,” she said.
