CRISPR – Gene Editing for Good of Humanity Or Something Far Sinister (Videos)

CRISPR – Gene Editing for Good of Humanity Or Something Far Sinister (Videos) by Randolph Jason for Gospel News Network

The first video below we came across at Health Nut News. We had planned on simply republishing what the great Erin Elizabeth had already published but then found another piece of the puzzle that makes the story a little more interesting. At least in our humble opinion.

CRISPR, which is breakthrough GENE editing technology, that is now several years old, was found to allow scientist to peer inside cancer cells and locate the actual molecules causing the problems. After exhaustive research they were able to identify some 600+ genes that could now be the target of medication to eradicate cancer from the body. [Ginger root already does this quiet nicely with a great many known cancers. Just saying.

Obviously this is truly powerful technology that should be used with the utmost of care. There should be serious spiritual questions addressed as this technology advances and, by now, becomes more mainstream. If people are willing to rig the system for their children to “graduate” from an Ivy League college for a price, well… 2+2 still equals 4.

Antibodies Part 1: CRISPR [Jennifer Doudna, Eugene V. Koonin, Beth Shapiro, Carl Zimmer]
Hidden inside some of the world’s smallest organisms is one of the most powerful tools scientists have ever stumbled across. It’s a defense system that has existed in bacteria for millions of years and it may some day let us change the course of human evolution.

Out drinking with a few biologists, Jad finds out about something called CRISPR. No, it’s not a robot or the latest dating app, it’s a method for genetic manipulation that is rewriting the way we change DNA. Scientists say they’ll someday be able to use CRISPR to fight cancer and maybe even bring animals back from the dead. Or, pretty much do whatever you want. Jad and Robert delve into how CRISPR does what it does, and consider whether we should be worried about a future full of flying pigs, or the simple fact that scientists have now used CRISPR to tweak the genes of human embryos.

You’ll notice that Jennifer Doudna’s name is listed above. She looked over the horizon of this new technology to see what lay on the other side of the mountain. Well, here is her TED talk about what she found.

How CRISPR lets us edit our DNA | Jennifer Doudna
Geneticist Jennifer Doudna co-invented a groundbreaking new technology for editing genes, called CRISPR-Cas9. The tool allows scientists to make precise edits to DNA strands, which could lead to treatments for genetic diseases … but could also be used to create so-called “designer babies.” Doudna reviews how CRISPR-Cas9 works — and asks the scientific community to pause and discuss the ethics of this new tool.
