Interests Of Others

Interests Of Others

If you’ve ever considered suicide you already know there is a deep yearning that seems to go unknown, that knows no depth and becomes something that consumes the whole of a person. It is a dark, lonely place that can not be easily abandoned without help. Few people walk out of their own accord.

By the end of this day some 177 people will die from a drug overdose. Most will be accidental but a fair amount will be intentional. Tomorrow this same number of people will happen again and the day after that and so on and so on. In 2018 there were approximately 72,000 people in the U.S. that died from overdose. Within that, most people don’t discuss, are those that were intentional. They felt their life was of no value. If only someone had told them how much they were loved, how much Jesus Christ loved them and their life actually mattered. If only someone had showed them by helping another person their reward would skyrocket in ways that are immeasurable. If only someone had told them by the simple act of earnestly asking another person about their day they may have made another decision about how their day would end.

It is food for the soul when we extend a hand to another. Reaching out to others is what gives life purpose. Life is to share and when we give a little piece of our soul to another life is carried forward.

Philippians 2 NKJV

1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy,
2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.
4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
