To Know What Was In Thine Heart…

We hear on TV, in podcast and newscast on every social media platform possible how “wicked” and “mean” God is and how the Christian God is a God of war and kills people, without warrant, and that’s why people are turning away from Christianity or should turn away from Christianity.

Did God direct the Knight’s Templar or was that the Pope? Did God punish any tribe, any people or any individual in a malicious way or did God discipline tribes, people and individuals AFTER they had not kept His commandments or had intentionally committed sin in God’s face?

When parents are raising their children do they not discipline their children? Do parents randomly discipline their children for no reason or for reasons unknown? If parents “discipline” their children for reasons unknown this is not discipline but abuse. God does not abuse His children, God disciplines His children because we are an undisciplined people. Period.

All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers. And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. ~ Deuteronomy 8:1-2 KJB

If we keep the commandments God, not only does God not discipline us, He generously rewards us in the open. If we don’t keep the commandments, well, what should be the expected outcome? How is this malicious or meant or something other than what it is – love through discipline.

And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live. ~ Deuteronomy 8:3 KJB

We are seeing a whole generation of people being raised by parents that do not discipline their child. Guess what – the children don’t understand the parents love them as the parents do not show them that they care enough to keep them from harm, keep them from running around with people that could get them in trouble or putting themselves in harms way because they don’t know any better. The parents have, in fact, abandoned their children in the home where both the parents and the children live together. They are separated as the parents have turned their back on the children and, in predictable fashion, the children turn their back on the parents. Discipline is an important component of love.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
