And They Took Of The Fruit Of The Land…

We listen for God’s Word, God’s voice and when it comes, a lot of the time, we act like it’s not true or accurate or that it is somehow lacking. Why do we readily accept lies from the devil, when he attacks us in our mind, our heart or even in our hand, but we struggle to believe the Truth from God? That is a mystery that keeps a lot of our friends and family in bondage.

And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the LORD our God doth give us.
Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God: and ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us. ~ Deuteronomy 1:25-27 KJB

We, literally, have fruit in our hand and it is not good enough to gives Thanks unto God for the bounty of the land that He has provided. In the same breath we cry out that God has turned His back on us and left us for dead, when God just placed fruit of the land into our hand. How is this even possible? The cunning, wiles of the devil are powerful indeed. We listen, we hear him speak and then we act upon the directions given.

We talk a lot about this in our Daily Devotional as it is such an important issue. When we hear “you’re a loser” we should turn away, rebuke in the name of Jesus Christ immediately, but we do not. When we hear someone tell us we failed we equate that us being a failure as the devil is usually right there to tell us so and we then accept as truth what we heard.

This is one of the strongest of all battles the devil wages against us. It is very easily seen in addiction as the pattern is so very clear. The lies are the driving force. The truth is always rejected and facts surrounding someone life are put on the shelf. The fact of the matter is this and nothing else – we are all good people, it’s just that we are broken and have never been told about the Truth. We have never been told, in a way that we can hear about the Way, the Life. Once this barrier is broken, the walls of Jericho begin falling and once they begin falling the collapse is swift and final.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
