Come Out Ye Three…

Our God is a loving, caring, generous God. Our God is also a God who demands respect, honor and our undivided devotion, love and obedience. It’s the undivided part that gets a lot of us in trouble and where we find ourselves knee-deep in sin. When we look away from God, when we begin doing things, creating things and going places of our own accord, this is when we get into trouble and our God can become angry.

If your Mom and/or your Dad tell you, in simple terms, not to do something or go somewhere or hangout with certain people and then we ignore their command, are we subject to their anger, disappointment and frustration? Of course we are. Explain how it is suppose to be different with our Heavenly Father – you know, our Father who art in Heaven? Our Father that oversees our entire life, Our Father who stitched together our life before we were in our Mothers womb – yeah, that Father. The Father that was with us before we needed grace.

And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it. ~ Numbers 12:1-2 KJB

Speaking against a servant of God is probably not a good idea.

And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out. ~ Numbers 12:4 KJB

When we challenge our God, speak disrespectfully of His servants or presume we should have the same Godly gifts as another are we not putting ourselves in a place of to be rebutted? Where does God say “You, yes you, come hither and challenge Me to an intellectual duel.” Must be overlooking that verse because where God says something like that is slipping by.

Actually, when we don’t show all honor, respect and glory to God for all the blessings showered upon us…well, we may receive something we never thought possible.

And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous. And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned. ~ Numbers 12:9-11 KJB

Does this mean that God is going to leave us out in the cold, leprous to live a life of shame? Of course not. God loves us. Sometimes God needs to do something in our life to let us know we have no power, no strength and are without guidance except for Him and Him alone.

And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again. ~ Numbers 12:14 KJB

We may have a time, a season or just a moment when God shames us before our family, before our community but God will never turn His back on us, nor leave us. Lessons learned are sometimes difficult, expensive and cost us in ways that are way more painful than financial.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
