For It Is A Sign Between Me And You…

How many times does the Lord have to speak to us before we actually listen and obey? The Book of Exodus we find our Lord, God, speaking to Moses in chapter after chapter verse after verse. Moses in turns goes to the Israelites and shares with them what the Lord has ask Moses to share with them. The Israelites always agree and respond with something like, “yes, we will do that”.

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you. ~ Exodus 31:12-13 KJB

Is the sabbath kept holy? What day is the sabbath, Saturday or Sunday? Could it be another day?

When God created the sabbath, God did not look a calendar and say anything of the “six days shall be Monday through Saturday and the seventh day, being the sabbath, is on Sunday.” No there were “days of the week” which is a construct of man, nor was there a specific point where people were to begin their first day and end their week six days later with keeping their seventh day holy. That is an agreement among the people, among mankind. The Pope, Catholics, decided that Sunday would be the seventh day instead of what had been accepted up to that time, being Saturday as the seventh day. So, what day is the sabbath?

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. ~ Exodus 20:8-11 KJB

In our personal, individual, relationship with Jesus Christ maybe it’s an individual, personal direction from Jesus Christ about which day is made holy for God. That we allow God to speak to us regarding the one day a week we shall keep holy, not working but rather for spending the maximum amount of time in His presence, in His Word and in glorifying His awesome works. If we have a personal, individual, relationship with Jesus Christ why wouldn’t something as important as keeping the sabbath be directed by Jesus Christ, for each one of us, individually, and not dictated by a group of men?

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
