Stretch Out Thine Hand Over The Sea…

Stretch Out Thine Hand Over The Sea…

When it appears that our back is against-the-wall…is it? When it looks like all is lost and there is no way out…is it? When the storm refuses to quiet and batters against our window, against our life and against our faith and it seems that only tragedy is our fate…is it?

Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. ~ Exodus 14:12 KJB

We see all through the Holy Bible in both the Torah and the New Covenant, stories that involve the human condition that we ourselves see at our door step. As we spend more and more time in the Word of God, the more readily we can see this. Seeing these different scenarios we begin to build up an arsenal of weapons to fight against what the devil is throwing at us. We begin to see ways the Lord, our God, in the name of Jesus Christ is leading the way, not only to victory, but to the promised land of beauty, of love and light.

When God speaks, we should listen. When we obey, God acts. Even when the Lord, our God, says go, camp by the sea and place yourself between locations where is seems like there is no possible escape, we should keep your eyes on the Lord and watch what happens.

For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in. And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so. ~ Exodus 14:3-4 KJB

We see only what is in front of us instead of seeing what is all around us. What is all around us? Could it be the whole Kingdom of God? Could it be the entire entourage of Saints, Prophets and Angels along with Jesus and God are all around us leading us, guiding us and strengthening us when all we do is focus on the hardened heart of Pharaoh? Eyes on Jesus.

But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pi-hahiroth, before Baal-zephon. ~ Exodus 14:9 KJB

It is when we keep our eyes on Jesus Christ and cry out for His strengthen, His power and His way out of what appears to be an impossible situation that the Lord of Host makes His presence known to all those with eyes to see and ears to hear.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: but lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. ~ Exodus 14:15-17 KJB

Wow!! When we seek, first, the strengthen of God, keep close to His Word and follow His direction, no matter how crazy it may sound, we find again and again the Lord, our God, is in full control of all situations. When man listens, God speaks. When man obeys, God acts…every single time.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
