In A Pillar Of A Cloud…
We see best when we are in the Light. When we are in darkness finding our way is much more a challenge. We can do it we just can’t do it very well and we can’t continue doing it very long. It is when we attempt to live in darkness for a long period of time that our life runs off the rails and we find ourselves in a deep hole.
It is when we keep our covenant with God, with Jesus Christ, that our life is showered in Light. We can see things more clearly and as we keep close to God allowing Him to lead the way Jesus Christ will provide Light for every step made. We can proceed during the day in the Light of the Lord and we can proceed at night as Jesus will go before us as a beacon of hope providing the necessary fire to keep us warm and keep us close.
And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: he took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people. ~ Exodus 13:21-22

As God provides the Light in our lives we have the opportunity to remain close to Him. It is when we stray and allow our mind to see things that aren’t real, we sin. When our mind sees things that aren’t real our heart begins to harden and we suddenly find something in our hand – our actions – that we can’t explain it’s origin. We know not how this action, this thing in our hand, arrived. How did our life get here?
We can stay in innocents with God. We don’t have to stray, we don’t have to find our life running off the rails and we don’t have to allow our heart to harden. The closer we stay to the pillar of a cloud by day and pillar of fire at night the closer to God our lives remain. Light is far superior to darkness.
Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
