Israel Shall Be Thy Name…
Our identity in Christ, in God, is of an importance that can not be overly stressed. It is a major factor throughout the Holy Bible. There are so many stories that are founded upon Identity that it should be taught on a regular basis in church. Unfortunately, it is not.
And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padan-aram, and blessed him. And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel. And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins; and the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land. ~ Genesis 35:9-12 KJB
Not only does God provide Identity to individuals He also, within their Identity, builds their individual purpose. Their purpose becomes their Identity and their Identity is their singular purpose in God.

This can not be overstated. It’s simple enough to find uur identity in Christ… we just ask. Our course we must be living a clean, idol free life otherwise we still living in the false identity as we are still handing over our True Identity to the enemy if our life is filled with false gods.
Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments: and let us arise, and go up to Beth-el; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went. ~ Genesis 35:2-3 KJB
When we bury our false gods – admit our sins one to another in confession – and turn our lives over to the care of God, as we understand God at the time of our transforming – God will bless our lives. God will always bless our lives when we are living in Truth. He will not be able to bless our lives if we are living in the false – false idols / false gods.
TV, work, exercise, chocolate, food, alcohol, sports, gambling, pornography and the list goes on and on and on of the false gods that consume our attention and consume our time. Bread and circuses will keep the people from revolting and it will keep the people away from God.
When we awaken to the fact that our Christ Identity is the most valuable of all our possessions it will the one thing that we will give our lives to protect. Without it, we have nothing. We are nothing.
Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
