Before He Had Finished Speaking…

It is when we stay close to God, in prayer, in our walk and in our deeds that God showers our life with favor. With every action we make we should seek God, first, for His direction, His approval and the appropriate blessing for the situation. Otherwise, we should forgo the task. When we pray for others success, as well as our own, it seems that we are showered with success for something we never even knew would be a blessing to our life.

Then he said, “O Lord God of my master Abraham, please give me success this day, and show kindness to my master Abraham. Behold, here I stand by the well of water, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water. Now let it be that the young woman to whom I say, ‘Please let down your pitcher that I may drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and I will also give your camels a drink’—let her be the one You have appointed for Your servant Isaac. And by this I will know that You have shown kindness to my master.” ~ Genesis 24:12-14 NKJB

Staying close to God, with every breath is a reward unto itself. It is how we are suppose to live. “Why am I here?” is a question most people ask themselves at some point in their life. Well, staying close to God would answer that question. Staying in the Word of God would answer that question. Seeking God’s favor, first, would answer that question. It would be answered for 100% people that lived as described – close to God with every breath.

And it happened, before he had finished speaking, that behold, Rebekah, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, came out with her pitcher on her shoulder. Now the young woman was very beautiful to behold, a virgin; no man had known her. And she went down to the well, filled her pitcher, and came up. And the servant ran to meet her and said, “Please let me drink a little water from your pitcher.” ~ Genesis 24:15-17 NKJB

We find this to be the case in our everyday life. When a person is in a constant state of prayer, seeking God’s will and seeking God’s direction the day just flows like water from a pitcher. It flows as if the breath in our lungs was put there by a Hand that is unseen. Our life changes, our yoke becomes lighter and our path far narrower.

So she said, “Drink, my lord.” Then she quickly let her pitcher down to her hand, and gave him a drink. ~ Genesis 24:18 NKJB

We love You, Lord and thank You for the many blessings showering our lives on a daily basis. Father God, Your presence is what we seek. Your Spirit for Comfort and Counsel is our desire. The Mind of Christ we seek, first, for Wisdom. Heavenly Father, lift up those in our life and touch their heart, fill their cup and let joy overflow from their soul. In Jesus Christ name we pray. Amen

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
