Dwelt In The Land Of Nod…
Somedays the best we can do is simply be confused. This past week there has been an abundance of confusion and in this day, Genesis 4 has shown how confusing life can be at times. The depths of the stories in Genesis 4 can not be easily read and simplified. If it can please let us know how that happens.
The story begins with four people on earth, a mom and dad with their two sons. One of the sons murders his brother, leaving three people on all the earth. Suddenly, from nowhere, a woman, as wife, appears and bears a child to Cain. Back to four people as this mystery woman has appeared and bears a son to Cain, one of the original four.
This is the beginning of a family line, a number of men and women all bearing children, mind you, all the women just simply appear. There is no introduction of how they arrived or from where they originated, they just simply appear. But we, literally, just learned that Adam, Eve, Cain and Cain’s mysteriously appearing wife were the only people on earth.

Where did these women come from?
This week has been all about confusion and this is not helping. The land of Nod must have already been populated, maybe when God made Adam in the Garden of Eden He must’ve made a bunch of people in Nod as all these people just keep showing up one after another. The women keep bearing sons but somehow the sons keep finding wives that bear more sons – no daughters are brought to life. The only woman, so far, is Eve. But yet all these women keep showing up and having sons!
This week has been something. The mind has been filled with danger, darkness and plenty of confusion. Genesis 4 may be the single worst chapter that could be read when a person is confused and dealing with very weighty life issues. Someone please help to explain all these people and from where they arrived.
