Atheists Pen Letter to Biden Lamenting ‘National Health Emergency’ Over Roe Decision, Outline 4 Steps They Want President to Take Immediately By  for Faith Wire

Atheist activists are imploring President Joe Biden to create an “oases of abortion care” amid other actions to solve the “national health emergency” they believe was spawned after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last month

The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), an atheist activist group based in Madison, Wisconsin, penned a July 25 letter to Biden in which they thanked the president for his recent executive order addressing abortion and detailed a plan to cement abortion as a “federally protected right.”

“Extremist anti-abortion activists around the country are hellbent on capitalizing on the demise of Roe, and are clamping down on reproductive rights in new and terrifying ways now that they know the U.S. Supreme Court will not stop them,” the letter reads. “We are already seeing a torrent of bad state
legislation all over the country and expect worse by next year.”

The FFRF then asked for clarifications on protecting “sensitive health and location data” that could potentially be used against women who cross state lines for abortions or order pills online.

The third action FFRF is seeking from Biden is allocating federal resources for people looking to get an abortion in another state. The letter specifically cites childcare and “travel vouchers” as two options of what could be provided at a federal level — sure to be controversial in light of government monies being allocated toward such services.
