‘Put on the Full Armor of God’: DeSantis Turns to Faith in Political Fight Against Left By  for Faith Wire

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) — a likely contender for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination — is urging supporters to “put on the full armor of God” in the political fight against leftism.

The governor made the faith-centered comments during the Victory Dinner of the Sunshine Summit on Saturday evening in Hollywood, Florida, according to The Daily Wire.

“You got to be ready for battle, so put on the full armor of God,” DeSantis said, referring to Ephesians 6:10-18. “Take a stand against the left’s schemes. Stand firm with the belt of truth buckled around your waist. You will face fire from flaming arrows, but the shield of faith will protect you.”

This is not the first time the conservative governor has invoked the New Testament passage.

As CBN News previously reported, DeSantis made similar remarks during the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s “Road to Majority” conference last June.

He told the crowd, “You got to be strong. You got to put on the full armor of God. You got to take a stand — take a stand against the left’s schemes. You got to stand your ground. You got to be firm. You will face flaming arrows, but take up the shield of faith and fight on.”

Last week, DeSantis rebuked President Joe Biden — who is now recovering from an infection with COVID-19 — for traveling to Saudi Arabia, where he urged the country to produce more oil as he is feeling the heat at home for record-high gas prices ahead of the midterm elections.

“How come it’s wrong to produce our own oil and gas here, but you can go to Saudi Arabia and fist bump to try to get it from Saudi?” asked DeSantis. “I mean, it makes no sense that we wouldn’t do it. We have opportunities here to be energy independent and not have to worry about any of these other countries. And yet, they’re intentionally not doing it and you can’t run a modern economy on windmills. You just can’t do it.”
