Fervent Charity Among Yourselves…

Fervent Charity Among Yourselves…

As we draw nearer to Jesus Christ in our daily walk all the things – music, friends, family and activities – that used to mean so much to us, seem to fall away. We are, by no means, losing anything, but are filling the space and time with other music, friends, family and activities that were previously unknown. Also, we are finding His strength, His Power and His Mind leading us more and more, deeper and deeper into the Light.

For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: ~ 1 Peter 4:3 KJB

All the time we spent as a slave to the flesh is now past. It is now time to lift up our eyes, soften our hearts and ask for the Wisdom of Christ, the will of God, to guide our activities, to clear our path that we may know His Ways and leave ours behind. We are gaining the whole of God and losing ourselves.

And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. Use hospitality one to another without grudging. ~ 1 Peter 4:8-9 KJB

Fervent charity sounds a lot like giving ourselves away to others. Not giving our possessions but our time to serve others as their need arises. When does this society get back to this path of righteousness? We are not too far gone. It takes each of us reaching out to one other person. It takes each of us making a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God, right where we are at in our understanding of God, to reach out to our brothers and sisters who are lost, who are broken and who need to our help in finding the door to knock upon.

Fervent charity above all things for others not ourselves. Opening our heart to allow others to see Jesus Christ alive in us. Allowing others to feel Jesus Christ around us. Allowing others to walk in the path that Jesus Christ has shown us. Reaching out for our brothers and sisters to help see there is another way. Showing others the path out of the furnace, with grace, humility and gratitude is called hospitality.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
