They Shall Call His Name Emmanuel…

If God is ever our enemy this means we must – we must – protect ourselves from God. Could this be true? Is God ever, at any point in time, our enemy? Is God a vengeful God?

If God is a vengeful God, what does that make Jesus Christ, Emmanuel? Emmanuel translates to God with us. That means that Jesus is God. Right? If Emmanuel translates to God with us.

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son,
And they shall call his name Emmanuel,
which being interpreted is, God with us. ~ Matthew 1:23 KJB

It doesn’t get any clearer that Jesus Christ is, in fact, God. Jesus, as we know Him and call Him the Son of God, the Son of Man, but is that what the Holy Bible says? Yes. Yes it does. But from the time before Jesus was born, an Angel of the Lord told Joseph, Mary’s husband, that Jesus would be known as Emmanuel, God with us.

Can anyone say that Jesus Christ is a vengeful God? The God we should protect ourselves from because He is our enemy, because He means us harm? Even when Jesus is telling us something that is hard to hear it is said with Love to teach us something about us, our associates and our community.

Are we to associate with nonbelievers – not the ones that have not learned, have not heard the Gospel, but those that have heard and rejected the Gospel. Are we, as believers, to be associated with these people of this world? Would Jesus teach us how to handle ourselves and this situation?

“I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is accomplished! Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. For from now on five in one house will be divided: three against two, and two against three. ~ Luke 12:49-52 NKJB

Does Jesus mean us harm or is He attempting to get our attention, protect us from harm and teach us what will happen as our time runs short? Are we not experiencing this today? Are those that have rejected the Gospel going to be divided from those of us that have accepted and live by the Gospel? There will be division and we are seeing it right now.

This does not mean us harm, it is Jesus telling us that we are going to need His Strength, His Power and the Whole Armor of God as we follow the straight and narrow path.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
