At The Sound Of Your Cry…

We happily give our time and resources to people and situations that are not sanctified by the Lord. We place ourselves in impossible positions and wonder what went wrong when we did not seek the guidance of our Savior prior to putting ourselves in a situation that is less than ideal. We do it time and again. We continue to do it until we turn it around, pray, seek, ask and knock prior to doing anything.

“Woe to the rebellious children,” declares the Lord,
“Who execute a plan, but not Mine,
And make an alliance, but not of My Spirit,
In order to add sin to sin;
Who proceed down to Egypt
Without consulting Me,
To take refuge in the safety of Pharaoh
And to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt!
Therefore the safety of Pharaoh will be your shame
And the shelter in the shadow of Egypt, your humiliation. ~ Isiah 30:1-3 KJB

We look back at our lives, once we have thrown everything to the wind, only to see the good and bountiful decisions that we made. The ugly and distorted come along, but seem to play a less prominent role in our memories. We forget the feel of heartache, until we don’t. We forget to see the wreckage, until it surrounds us. We forget the pain, until it pierces our flesh. No, we see all the good things in our decisions of the past, until the reality catches up and the shadow of confusion lays heavy on our heart.

It doesn’t have to be this way. We can turn back to the Lord, rest in His arms and live in the grace in which He showers our lives.

Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you,
And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
How blessed are all those who long for Him.
O people in Zion, inhabitant in Jerusalem, you will weep no longer. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears it, He will answer you. Although the Lord has given you bread of privation and water of oppression, He, your Teacher will no longer hide Himself, but your eyes will behold your Teacher. Your ears will hear a word behind you, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left. And you will defile your graven images overlaid with silver, and your molten images plated with gold. You will scatter them as an impure thing, and say to them, “Be gone!” ~ Isiah 30:18-22 NASB95

The Lord always, always, always ask us to turn back to Him. Our God never leaves us, He is always there. He is always saying to us – “you have free-will but are sure it is best?” Let us not look back and see only the good, but let us look back and see the destruction, the folly and the pain. Let us rejoice in our Lord, God, and let His ways be our ways. So that as we create our coming past we see His beauty when we look back.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
