The Spirit Himself Bears Witness…

When we turn towards God and away from sin we find a much narrower path to traverse. We don’t have to think about is coming up, what is around the corner or down the path, we simply walk in the hope of God. If we knew what was coming it wouldn’t be exciting or gratifying once we received it. All hope for a bright future, in the Lord, would be lost as hope only exist in the unknown.

When we walk in sin we already know what is coming up, what is just around the corner and what is down the path, we already have it, we are already living it. There is no need for hope, or faith, as what is in our hand has already been determined, we have already achieved whatever it is we were moving towards. We have already received the “reward” we wanted. Sin is not a “reward” but we see it as something of a “prize”.

Being drunk, gambling, cheating on our spouse, watching pornography, getting high on drugs or whatever it is, when we achieve the “thing” it is known. There is nothing more to it. There is nothing we can add to it. This is why, after a very short period, it is no longer rewarding to achieve it is merely a motion we go through in order to get to the end.

When we walk with Jesus Christ, as He leads us down the path He has laid out for us, we are moving in unfamiliar territory, new paths, new people. We are unsure of what is coming next and this when we become fearful and untrusting. We are to Trust in the Lord, follow His Word and go when He says go. We don’t know where we are going we simply begin moving with the Lord.

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. ~ Romans 8:15-17 NKJB

When we live in the Spirit and take Comfort and Counsel in Him, we will be surprised in all aspects of life. We will move in all our days, with the smallest decisions as well as life altering decisions in the same manner – that faith is the substance and evidence of our hopes. We must first walk in faith allowing our Savior, Jesus Christ, to break the chains of fear for our hope to manifest before us. We love You, Father God and place our whole lives in Your hands.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
