A teacher in Texas is being showered with praise by her community after she allegedly put her son in the trunk of her car because he had COVID-19.

Sarah Beam, a 41-year-old teacher at Cypress Falls High School, was arrested after her 13-year-old son was discovered in her car’s trunk at a local drive-thru testing site on Jan. 3, according to court documents.

Beam told an employee at the site that she had placed her son there because she didn’t want to be exposed to COVID-19, according to a report.

Beam was charged with endangering a child, according to court documents.

Residents have posted colorful signs outside Beam’s home, and her students have labeled her “the best teacher ever” and “a teacher with a heart of gold.”

The students have apparently told Beam they “have her back.”
