Mighty In God…

Mighty In God…

When a person is at war it usually gets very messy. What happens when flesh is absent from the battle? Where is the battlefield? What weapons are employed?

We speak among ourselves in language that we understand and in ways that God can understand and He can hear us speaking while in His presence. When are we not in God’s presence?

Working with men that are either just out of prison or have checked themselves into rehab provides an opportunity, several hours a week, to really be bold in God’s presence, in the Word of God Almighty. We can speak freely and speak openly about God, our relationship with Jesus Christ and what the Holy Spirit is doing in our lives. This is an easy environment to speak boldly about God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. When we attempt to have this type of conversation in public some people involved in the conversation can get anxious, uncomfortable or attempt to reroute the conversation away from God.

But I beg you that when I am present I may not be bold with that confidence by which I intend to be bold against some, who think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. ~ 2 Corinthians 10:2 NKJB

Why would it matter if we are in a quiet space, away from the public or standing in the middle of town square with megaphones? We should always speak boldly of Christ our Lord as if others were not walking with Christ that they, too, may come to know Him. We are at war with spirits that are in conflict with our soul, with our relationship with Christ. These spirits are not meek, they are unafraid and they are constantly trying to find the weakness within us to invade.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. ~ 2 Corinthians 10:3 NKJB

As we take up our Whole Armor of God and follow the Lord into battle what is the most vulnerable point of entry in this battle? Where can weakness most easily be exploited?

When we think of our flesh is that not the most easily exploited point of entry – our thoughts; our carnal mind? Isn’t this the point in which the devil has focused so much of his efforts as this is how he, the devil, can breach and harden the heart? How can the devil get into our thoughts? Well, there’s only about an endless array of ways that he has worked on for the past several thousand years, so, it would seem he could use just about any of our senses to create the pin-hole to invade.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. ~ 2 Corinthians 10:4-6 NKJB

Prayer without ceasing, walking with the Holy Spirit and following Jesus Christ is the only way to have a chance in this battle. If we are with Jesus at all times, the devil is going to be forced to rifle through his bag of tricks, attempting to find the one thing we never think of and, then, attempt to use it against our carnal mind. Being present with the Lord stops this in its tracks. It’s a war out there. So every new day we must suit up, pray up and show up and be present in the Lord and give Him, Jesus Christ, all the glory.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
