His Own Vessel In Sanctification and Honor…

His Own Vessel In Sanctification and Honor…

Who teaches us about our relationship with Jesus Christ? Where do we go for answers to questions that require guidance and direction concerning Godly situations? How do we proceed in any situation?

Finally then, brethren, we request and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us instruction as to how you ought to walk and please God (just as you actually do walk), that you excel still more. For you know what commandments we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God; and that no man transgress and defraud his brother in the matter because the Lord is the avenger in all these things, just as we also told you before and solemnly warned you. For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification. So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you. ~ 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8 NASB95

By Paul’s word we are to turn to the Holy Bible, which is the Word of God, that has already taught us to walk in the Holiness that Jesus Christ commands us to be like Jesus Christ! This is not complicated. We reject the lustful eye, we turn towards our brothers, and sisters, with love and help them where we are able and when we ought.

Through compassion for one another, teaching others what we have learned and helping them in time of need we are living the scripture. One of the key components is the teaching of others. The word “disciple” is a derivative of the word “discipline”. We must teach others to be disciplined in their studies of the Word of God; teach others to be disciplined in their prayers; teach others to rejoice in their sanctification that others would see the Works of the Lord in them. By this the Holy Spirit becomes our Leader, our Comforter and our Counselor.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
