I Have Called You Friends…

I Have Called You Friends…

The Book of John is so poetic, so beautiful that only the Hand of God could have written the words. No human is capable of such depth of beauty. We read the Words that John put on paper and our hearts change. We read these Words and our Strength is renewed. We read these Words and the very breath of God fills our lungs.

When we live in a humble way we see things differently. We see other people as our brothers and sisters in Christ. We see other people as sons and daughters of our Father…Father God. We are His children who He speaks with. Who He guides and directs our days and when we get out of His way His will overtakes our lives. His will becomes the very meaning of our lives.

You are My friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you. This I command you, that you love one another. ~John 15:14-17 NASB95

We are no longer slaves to our sin. We are no longer slaves to our flesh, but are captive to the One, the One True God that gave His only Son for us. We can not say the same. We have not sacrificed our only son for anyone much less for all the people that were, that are and have yet to arrive. We owe a debt that can never be repaid. We owe our lives to our God. Our Father brought Heaven to us. Our Father renews our mercies every morning. When we transform our lives by the renewing of our minds we prove His perfect and good will for our lives. It is this transformation, by the anointing of the Holy Spirit, that our lives are no longer our lives. It is our calling to spread His Word. It is our calling to be His child, the child who’s life was knit together before he was in his mother’s womb. This is the life we should lead.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
