Is That How It Works…

Quiet time is important to most Christians. This is the time we set aside to come to the Lord in praise and thanksgiving. More importantly, it’s the time we listen – the still small voice needs quiet to be heard. As we have all heard most of lives, “two ears one mouth for twice as listening as talking”. Quiet time is very important, it is at the top of the list and the day is not.

During our quiet time to whom are we listening? Are the false identities rebuked by the name of Jesus Christ? “You’re an idiot!” “This is stupid! You’re stupid!” Who uses phrases like that? Perhaps the devil? Wouldn’t the devil be a prime candidate for that type of language? Shouldn’t we erase that language from our heart (mind) and allow Jesus to use His phrases and the Living Word?

We need to renew our mind (heart) all the time, throughout the day, throughout the night and when we lay our heads down we should have cleaner thoughts to send us off to sleep.

When we give in to the devil and listen to his voice our hearts harden (mind races) and we find ourselves seeing things differently than what they really are. We see person walking down the street, not as a young man going to the store for his Mom, but as a thief casing houses to strike when the iron is hot. We don’t see other people for as someone that needs helps, but as someone that is looking to scam us out of something.

We learn in John 1:4-5

In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overpower it. ~John 1:4-5 NASB95

Do we believe those words or are they distant from us? Only Light can overpower darkness, darkness can not overpower Light.  This is the reason for the Victory. The Light of the World has arrived, He has atoned for our sins and He has granted us favor.

Either the Gospel is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
