Today’s Solid Rock…

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, that’s why we call today the present. ~Anonymous

After attending several prayer meetings over the past few days the lungs are becoming easier to fill, the heart is beating on a different rhythm and the step is a lot lighter.

A meeting that happened last night was truly amazing, seven people total, discussing the importance of daily prayer and the importance of turning our will and lives over to the care of God.

A lot of people aren’t sure how to do this. but Sal, who would become Paul, teaches us in Romans on his way to Damascus.

And he said, “Who are You, Lord?”
Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”
So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?”
Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” ~Acts 9:5-6 NKJB

Sal ask directly of the Lord “Lord, what do You want me to do?” and Jesus Christ, without hesitation, answered telling Sal what he must do. Jesus didn’t give Sal options, suggestions or beat-around-the-bush, Jesus answered with a proclamation.

Simple, direct and not a lot of wasted words to get to the point. “Lord, what do You want me to do?”

Another way of seeking His will for our lives, in this day, is to ask, what do you want me to know – (about a specific situation).

We also learn, once again, directly from Jesus Christ, about turning our will and our life over to His care.

So He said to them, “When you pray, say:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us day by day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins,
For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.” ~Luke 11:2-4 NKJB

No need to overcomplicate, think too deeply or procrastinate the situation. Daily, as in everyday, we go before Jesus Christ and simply ask for our “daily bread” – the living, breathing Word of God in our life and “Lord, what do You want me to do?”  His will for our life and His care for our life.

Either the Gospel is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
