Preparing The Way…

Preparing The Way…

And he went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins, as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying:
“The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord;
Make His paths straight.
Every valley shall be filled
And every mountain and hill brought low;
The crooked places shall be made straight
And the rough ways smooth;
And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’ ” ~Luke 3:3-6 NKJB

Admitting our sins, confessing our sins one-to-another is the Way to repentance. Seeking God’s mercy only comes after we have admitted, confessed, our sins to another human being. While going through the Steps in AA this is the one thing that terrifies more people, keeps more people trapped in a life of sin (alcoholism, drug addiction, over-eating or whatever). People would rather hold onto their sinful “secrets” than confess them to another human being. 100% of these people either have never hear the saying or have forgotten the saying, “the truth shall set you free.”

Is the Truth, referred to in this saying, Jesus Christ – known as the Truth, the Way and the Life or is it about confessing our sinful “secrets”? There is nothing more frightening than confessing ones sinful “secrets” nor nothing more liberating. The weight that is released as a person shares the burden with another person can not be described. The chains hitting the floor, their is no sound like a captive that’s been set free, shakes the very foundation a person is standing upon. The change in every aspect of their life – at the moment the words come out of their mouth – can be overwhelming. The flood of the Holy Spirit that comes in rattles the dead and dying bones throughout the entire body.

Jesus Christ loved us first. Jesus Christ already knows our “secrets”, we aren’t keeping anything from Him, He simply wants us to own our “stuff” and confess who we are. Forgiveness awaits, mercy is assured but confession is required.

Either the Gospel is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
