My Little Children…

My Little Children…

The trust of a child…isn’t that what God ask of us?

In the first Book of John chapter 2, John addresses the people he is speaking with as “little children”, not just children, but little children. This is interesting language considering he is speaking with people in the early to mid 20’s and some, no doubt, are much older. This language probably caught the attention right away and these men likely began listening intently to what was being said. When reading this most people, likely, perk up and pay attention simply to learn whom John is addressing.

Why do we so often allow our “adult” thinking to cloud our child-like desires? Splashing a mud puddle, playing with toys and singing like no one can hear us? Allowing Our Father to rule over us should be the priority. Seeing ourselves in the same Light as John, “little children” should give us a sense of how Our Father sees us and how He would like for us to be – dependent, little children coming to their Father for everything.

Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning. Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining. ~ 1 John 2:7-8 NKJB

We know the Light is overcoming the darkness but we don’t recognize it to ourselves or to Our Father’s other little children. We simply stand-by.

He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. ~ 1 John 2:9-11 NKJB

The victory is won, the battle is over but we somehow forget this, overlook this and don’t walk in the victory of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

I write to you, little children,
Because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake.
I write to you, fathers,
Because you have known Him who is from the beginning.
I write to you, young men,
Because you have overcome the wicked one.
I write to you, little children,
Because you have known the Father.
I have written to you, fathers,
Because you have known Him who is from the beginning.
I have written to you, young men,
Because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you,
And you have overcome the wicked one ~ I John 2:12-14 NKJB

Either the Gospel is divine inspiration, the Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
