Prayer Life…

Prayer Life…

Over the past, almost two decades, prayer life has been in a constant state of change. For the past three years the change has been on the increase. Before, it seems, that prayer time would easily get away, but today there seems to be a desire to dedicate more time to prayer and time spent with the Lord. Not only is this pleasing to our Lord, Christ Jesus, it brings about a more calming, clearing of the heart, mind and soul.

The pastor who performed the baptismal taught a group of us about the “ABC’s” of prayer – audible, brief, concise. Makes perfect sense. The more time spent in prayer proves this to be closer in line with what Jesus taught.

And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. ~Matthew 6:7-8 NKJB

Since our Father already knows our needs it may be best to simply pray for others.

Over the past several weeks praying for strength, praying for wisdom and praying for the desire to carry out His will has been at the top of the list. Praying for Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and Our Father, God, to strengthen others, provide others with prosperity and good health would create a reflection of God’s good grace in others that surround our brothers and sisters we pray for.

What we pray must be prayed in our secret place to come before God in absolute humility. The most powerful prayers that have been experienced are as clear today as the day they were prayed. The prayers were in secret, knees bent, hands raised and in full submission before God. When a person prays in this manner, God speaks, life changes and His will comes into full view. This does not mean praying for a new car, a winning lottery ticket or anything unGodly it means laying down our life before God makes reality rush to the fore. Once a person experiences the full presence of God, their life will be forever changed.

The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? ~Matthew 6:22-25 NKJB

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
