Changing The World…

Changing The World…

When an empty vessel can be used to start a brushfire that begins changing the world it may be well that others mimic what has been done.

If a mere code of morals or a better philosophy of life were sufficient to overcome alcoholism, many of us would have recovered long ago. But we found that such codes and philosophies did not save us, no matter how much we tried. We could wish to be moral, we could wish to be philosophically comforted, in fact, we could will these things with all our might, but the needed power wasn’t there. Our human resources, as marshalled by the will, were not sufficient; they failed utterly. Source

No, “self-will” is not sufficient we, all of us, need a power that is outside ourselves that is bigger, stronger, more loving and beyond understanding. If it is easily understood then it is easily overcome. If it is big enough to measure, even as big as the universe,  it is entirely too small. In order for a vessel to be worthy it must be emptied of falsehoods, lies and deception. The vessel must be humble and accepting of what is outside of their life to change their life. How can one expect hear Truth when filled with lies, when one doesn’t even know who they are in the eyes of God.

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:4-8 NKJV

We can either act “as if” we are carrying the message, spreading the Gospel and waiting for the Lord or we can go through our day and believe whatever we want. What we can not do is both. This is an either / or situation. It is time for Christians to follow Jesus Christ in every aspect of life and take the Bible at face value and read it is inspiration and not a historical account.

Either the Gospel is divine inspiration, the Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
