Zoomer Life…

Zoomer Life…

Have you used the video software Zoom during this ongoing Wuhan bat-stew flu situation? If not, it’s very cool and allows us to have a sharing experience with those we care about.

Technology is great, to a point. The problem with technology it creates prisons, “borders” and for those that believe in a borderless world, well, technology is like placing a vice grip on the individual. It cages people and keeps them removed from others – removed from their family, removed from their friends and removed from their life.

Zoom, Skype, FaceTime and all the other video sharing technology are great “bandaids” but they are nothing more than a bandaid. We need to see, feel, smell and be close to those we love. We need hugs, kisses and hand-holding – we need these in our lives. Technology does not allow any of this to happen. How can one know their family member or friend is hurting on the inside if all they see is a “virtual” friend or family? How can we know something is beyond joyous when we are separated? We can’t. What if they don’t answer the call?

We are made in the image of our Father God. We are to honor His gifts by sharing these gifts with one another. If we show someone a gift but can’t deliver that gift what does it mean – it means zero. It means absolutely nothing. There is no joy, there is happiness, there is no camaraderie, there is no hug, there is no handshake – void, that’s what we get – nothing / nothingness. This is an abomination to God.

Isiah 44 NKJV

1 “Yet hear now, O Jacob My servant,
And Israel whom I have chosen.
2 Thus says the Lord who made you
And formed you from the womb, who will help you:
‘Fear not, O Jacob My servant;
And you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.
3 For I will pour water on him who is thirsty,
And floods on the dry ground;
I will pour My Spirit on your descendants,
And My blessing on your offspring;
4 They will spring up among the grass
Like willows by the watercourses.’
5 One will say, ‘I am the Lord’s’;
Another will call himself by the name of Jacob;
Another will write with his hand, ‘The Lord’s,’
And name himself by the name of Israel.

Isiah is not describing the commandments from God as being close to Jacob, down the street from Jacob or across town from Jacob. No, Isiah is describing people that are sharing an experience, that are with one another, that are sharing in joy, sadness and helping one another with every aspect of life – God’s life. The life God has provided.

If someone wants to discuss “essential” and “not essential” life situations well, God is the most essential. Life in God’s community is essential. We, as Christians, better start acting like it’s essential or we will hand it over to the nearest tyrant and they will be happy to strip us all of our God given right to assemble in His name. If you don’t believe me, think about this during your next Zoom, Skype, FaceTime meeting.
