Are The Times A Changing?
Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don’t criticize
What you can’t understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Please get out of the new one
If you can’t lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin’ ~Bob Dylan, The Times They Are A-Changin
If you know this song then it is understood the time frame in which it was first sang brought people together while ripping them apart. Just as the lines above prove, people are moving in a variety of directions, all while we stand still.
During this brief window, 2-3 weeks, people have been able to slow down, capture a thought and allow a little love to return to their lives. More connections, more time with family and a much quieter mind allow the Holy Spirit to step in and fully embrace lives or introduce himself in other lives.
The petty ideas that were so important just a few weeks ago no longer register. The Truth is racing towards the surface and people, the world over, can feel it. It is Holy Week and Jesus Christ is letting Himself be known.
The prosaic steel girder is a mass of electrons whirling around each other at incredible speed. These tiny bodies are governed by precise laws, and these laws hold true throughout the material world, Science tells us so. We have no reason to doubt it. When, however, the perfectly logical assumption is suggested that underneath the material world and life as we see it, there is an All Powerful, Guiding, Creative Intelligence, right there our perverse streak comes to the surface and we laboriously set out to convince ourselves it isn’t so. We read wordy books and indulge in windy arguments, thinking we believe this universe needs no God to explain it. Were our contentions true, it would follow that life originated out of nothing, means nothing, and proceeds nowhere. Source
While the stabile thrive and come together we find others slipping further and further away from us and further away from a loving God. These broken souls are now isolated and removed from our sight. We reach out, but have no idea where their hand resides. We pray for their safety, but have no means of speaking to them directly. We are coming together as we are ripped apart.
These days will pass, they always do. Where will we stand once we reach tomorrow?
Isiah 32 NKJV
16 Then justice will dwell in the wilderness,
And righteousness remain in the fruitful field.
17 The work of righteousness will be peace,
And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.
18 My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation,
In secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places,
19 Though hail comes down on the forest,
And the city is brought low in humiliation.
20 Blessed are you who sow beside all waters,
Who send out freely the feet of the ox and the donkey.
