Threading A Needle

Threading A Needle

How many times have people attempted to thread a needle with a camel or jump across the Snake River Canyon on a motorcycle?  What happened in these situations?

Most Christians, and a lot of people in the secular community, are familiar with the story of the rich man asking about entering the Kingdom of Heaven and learning that it’s easier to thread a needle with a camel. Those that are a little older may remember Evil Knievel attempting to jump the Snake River Canyon on a motorcycle. Well, these two things were impossible in their day and they will remain impossible going forward. Why? Because some things are not meant to be.

In Matthew 19 NKJV we find – 23 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

Just like trying to get close to God without humbling ourselves before God. It was impossible before and will remain impossible until the end of time. Never will it happen.

When we study books on spirituality, read the four Gospels in the Bible and participate in sweat lodges, prayer and star gazing does it invite God into our lives? Are we building a relationship, a foundation, for a relationship with the One True God and the Son of Man, Jesus Christ by going through all these different motions? Well, if you have tried these things you already know – they didn’t work then and they will never work in the future.

What works is getting on our knees, raising our hands over our head – in full surrender – and begging, asking forgiveness, knocking to have the door opened, then seeking His presence. By loving Jesus Christ with all of our heart, mind and soul and loving our neighbor as ourselves we thread the needle. It is not our actions, it is His love. It is not our words, it is His mercy and sacrifice. The more time we spend with Him, the more time He spends with us. What we do in secret for His children, our neighbor, He rewards in open. When we love Jesus Christ with all our heart, mind and soul, He does the same for us. Since we are wretched, sinful people, we always look for the easy way out, but there is no easy way, only the narrow path that leads to One conclusion. Humility before God brings everlasting life with Him.
