Justice To The Defenseless

Justice To The Defenseless

This past weekend was a little different than most. My wife has been really sick for several days and sleeping for close to 3 days straight – more than 60 hours of continuous sleep. To say that it was a little unsettling would be a massive understatement.

When God decides it’s time we pay attention do we listen, do we have to listen, do we have a choice in the matter? If it’s God’s decision, and He is sovereign, then, from my perspective we must listen when He calls.

This has been the case in my life on more than one occasion. Actually, three very distinct situations where I was called and actually responded. Not only did it have a profound effect on my life these three callings define who I am today. The funny thing is, all three situations were born of pain. Not just your typical paper-cut kind of pain, but truly deep seeded pain that was not born from a physical attack, physical ailment or anything of the sort. No, all three were of the Spiritual variety where life had veered off course to such a degree that only God could straighten the path and reset my feet.

This is what He does. This is who He is and I long for those in this world who do not know Jesus Christ nor have never met Him to actually meet Him where we stand. Life today is so much different than it was before. There are moments of joy, there are moments of real love and there are moments when there is little question who creates this life. The good news is the moments are getting closer together instead of further apart. The good news is as Jesus Christ becomes a bigger part of this life, the hope for a better tomorrow grows stronger and stronger.

More prayer time helps bring the Holy Spirit closer, which in turns opens the door and allows me to move closer to Jesus. This begins to create a circle of goodness. It is when the circle gets wobbly or out of balance – by my own actions or inactions – that everything becomes muddy.

Pastor Bill Johnson, Bethel Church, read this yesterday during service and it blew me out of my chair. I pray that it does the same for you!

Psalms 103 The Passion Translation (TPT)

3 You kissed my heart with forgiveness, in spite of all I’ve done.
You’ve healed me inside and out from every disease.
4 You’ve rescued me from hell and saved my life.
You’ve crowned me with love and mercy.
5 You satisfy my every desire with good things.
You’ve supercharged my life so that I soar again
like a flying eagle in the sky!
6 You’re a God who makes things right,
giving justice to the defenseless.
