The Measure You Use…Choosing Wisely

The Measure You Use…Choosing Wisely

Jesus actually states in Matthew 7 1 Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. Then we learn from Paul that we must judge in order to “savour” a sweet-smelling aroma. What I’ve heard said, in no uncertain terms, is that I must judge others and I must judge circumstances / situations. If I don’t, I may wind up staring into the bottom of an empty bottle. This has served me well and kept me away from some people and kept me out of establishments that I have no business. The only time I placed myself in harms way it turned out to be a learning experience as I prayed and stayed close to God most of the time I was in this “dark hole”. Otherwise, it was like I had placed myself back in hell. The enemy was not only invading my thoughts, he was in attendance in this venue. A lack of solid judgement lead me to a place I should never have been.

When Jesus’ eyes are our eyes we judge people and situations much clearer. Jesus does not say “don’t judge”. He clearly sates that we will be judged as we judge others. I’m okay with that. What I believe Jesus is telling us is don’t gossip or be jealous, don’t see skin color, don’t use identity politics as a guiding force. If you notice all the people that are currently using these tools of the enemy are beginning to pay a very, very heavy price. That’s my take away.

1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.
2 And 9walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
3 But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;
4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.
5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
7 Therefore do not be partakers with them.
