Putting on The Armor of God

Putting on The Armor of God by Randolph Jason for Gospel News Network

Approximately two years ago I was researching articles and listening to a podcast at the same time. It seemed all the news over the previous weeks all had the same ending – human trafficking, pedophilia and organ harvesting. Three of the most heinous crimes against humans that can be perpetuated. I was not looking for this information but the enemy kept placing it in my path.

After several weeks of crying, almost daily, as I was researching articles and producing written and video articles, I finally had reached my breaking point and raised my arms over my head, with tear-stained eyes, ask God to please “Put the Armor of God of me, I can not take it another second.” My life has never been the same. I didn’t really understand what I was saying and as I have been told by other Christians they have offered a variety of ideas of what the Armor of God is and the various parts. Below is what I believe to be an accurate list of the component parts of the Armor itself. I’m pretty sure the only piece of Armor I possessed prior to the situation described above was the Belt of Truth. I have been as honest as possible with you and myself since getting sober on December 6, 2002, I feel confident the other parts were never deployed, nor did I even understand they existed.

the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit. A list and description of the full armor of God can be found below.

We do not wrestle against flesh and blood

The Bible often illustrates the Christian life as a battle against sin and Satan. We are soldiers of Christ in a spiritual warfare (2 Corinthians 10:3, 4; 2 Timothy 2:3, 4). As Scripture says, “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against . . . spiritual hosts of wickedness” (Ephesians 6:12). That’s why the apostle Paul encourages Christians to “put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (verse 11).

Let’s take a look at each piece of this spiritual armor and see how it can enable us to be victorious as soldiers for Christ in our battle against the “spiritual hosts of wickedness.” Source

This is my daily clothing. Without these I am naked and alone. If its been a while since you suited-up, or perhaps you never have, it may be time to see how it fits. My guess is, it probably fits just about right.
