A lot of people are unaware that all Roman Catholic popes hold dual roles as they serve. First, the pope serves as the spiritual leader of the world’s Roman Catholics, and is said to be ‘infallible’ when speaking from his throne. Second, all popes are also the king of a country called Vatican City, and is listed among the 193 nations of the United Nations in a role called ‘permanent observer’. So the Roman Catholic Church controls a spiritual kingdom and a political kingdom, this level of influence which is unique in world history allows the Roman Catholic Church to fulfill all the requirements and attributes listed in Revelation 17. From this dual nature, it is able to control politics, acquire massive wealth, and control people spiritually.

The Revelation 17 woman is a political power player, John shows us how she ‘reigneth over the kings of the earth’, that gives us politics, power and world governments.

Many bible students get confused when they get to Revelation 17, because the main character in the chapter, the woman, appears to play a dual role. In this chapter, we are introduced to an entity typified as a ‘woman’, who commits spiritual fornication with the ‘kings of the earth’. Trying to rectify the spiritual kingdom with what is obviously a political kingdom can get confusing. This is why many bible scholars and commentators over the years have failed to identify her. Let’s meet this woman, shall we?

“So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.” Revelation 17:3-6 (KJV)

Before we go any further, let’s put this woman in bullet points for easier identification. We will not be depending on any ‘private interpretation’ to be able to deduce her identity. Every bullet point listed here is taken directly from Revelation 17.

The Revelation 17 Woman:

• THE WOMAN RIDES THE BEAST: Dave Hunt, in his excellent book ‘A Woman Rides The Beast‘, one of the first Bible study books I ever read, shows us the woman riding on top of another character we are very familiar with. He goes by the name of Satan, the Devil, Leviathan, the Dragon, and the serpent. All different aspects of who he is and what he does. Revelation 17 shows us this ‘woman’ who rides Satan like a pet horse, such is the closeness and intimacy of their relationship. So we see that this is a very spiritual woman, and highly connected to spiritual forces.
• THE WOMAN FORNICATES WITH KINGS: The Revelation 17 woman is a political power player, John shows us how she ‘reigneth over the kings of the earth‘, that gives us politics, power and world governments.
• THE WOMAN IS AMAZINGLY WEALTHY: The woman is covered in jewels and precious stones, she is loaded with money.
• THE WOMAN WEARS SPECIFIC COLORS: The woman has two colors she wears, and they are representative of power and standing, these colors are purple and scarlet.
• THE WOMAN SLAUGHTERS BIBLE BELIEVERS: The woman has a hatred for two types of people very precious in the sight of God, saints and martyrs. She has a long history of spilling their blood.
• THE WOMAN HAS A SPECIFIC LOCATION: The location of the woman is on ‘seven mountains’ which are the seven hills of Rome. According to Vatican.com “The ancient city of Rome was originally built on the topographical layout of seven separate hills. These seven hills were joined together by the ancient walls of Rome- the Servian walls. The Seven Hills of Rome lie in the east to the Tiber River. Later many more areas were annexed to the city. The city walls were extended to include them also and the city is now much bigger than its original territory. The Vatican and Vatican hill are included in the Areas that were added to the city much later in history.” Hmm, pretty interesting stuff!

By now it is obvious who this woman is, at least it is to me who was baptized into the Catholic Church, made my ‘first holy communion’, was an altar boy, and was trained in Jesuit schools for 12 years. I can see with 100% assurance and clarity that the woman is the Roman Catholic Church and its Vatican City government.
