Not Everyone Deserves Discussion by Randolph Jason for Gospel News Network
Do you believe in Heaven and hell? Do you believe these are physical locations? Do you believe we are engaged in a fight / a war with the enemy of humanity, the devil and his minions? Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the absolute ruler of the universe and has dominion over all, including our lives? Do you know, in your heart, you are going to heaven?
When we meet with a nonbeliever we must understand that not everyone we meet will be willing to hear us out, Jesus makes this very clear in a couple of different scriptures…
And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Matthew 10:13-14 KJB
Now is your chance to support Gospel News Network.
We love helping others and believe that’s one of the reasons we are chosen as Ambassadors of the Kingdom, to serve God’s children. We look to the Greatest Commandment as our Powering force.
This is repeated, almost word-for-word in The Gospel of Mark
And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city. Mark 6:10-11 KJB
We also find Jesus speaking this very thing in direct language to anyone that is attempting to speak the Gospel to another. If a person says that do not want what we are offering… we should believe them.
“Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces. Matthew 7:6 NKJB
Does someone that is well need a physician? Is someone that is living what they believe is there “best life” is that person open to hearing what we have to say about the Gospel? If they are living in the world and getting all their “fill” from the world how much should we give this person? Or what can we offer them that they don’t already possess?
And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Luke 5:31-32 KJB also in Mark 2:17 KJB
Please do not misunderstand, this is not to say we ignore anyone – we must not leave anyone behind. The question is – where should our attention be focused? Only God can direct our path. Only God can show us the people we should approach, we should discuss the Gospel with and the neighborhoods we traverse.
This is where we can get into trouble. The devil is a master manipulator – the father of chaos, the father of lies. We must – we must – be careful what we are listening to, who we are listening to and ensure we are not doing something that is Biblically sound, but may not apply to the situation we find ourselves. The devil in Matthew 4 actually quotes scripture to Jesus Christ. What makes us think he wouldn’t do the same with us? He will, he does.
Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, and saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written,
He shall give his angels charge concerning thee:
And in their hands they shall bear thee up,
Lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Matthew 4:5-6 KJB
Heavenly Father, Creator of All, in the name of Jesus Christ, we humbly come before You and seek, first, Your will for our lives. We ask the Holy Spirit to fall on us, right now, that He may guide us, direct us and provide us with Comfort and Counsel in this moment and throughout this day. Keep us close, Father God, and strengthen us to continually draw near to You and boldly step in where You direct. Let us hear Your Word and act accordingly. Put the person in our life that will be of good counsel in Your Word and in Your Ways that we may not be lead astray but remain on the Narrow Road.
In Jesus Christ loving name we pray. Amen.
