The Spirit Of God Dwell In You…

As the day we celebrate the birth of Christ approaches we are reminded of the genealogy of Jesus Christ. Where did Jesus Christ come from? Who are His family and how does it relate to us?

As we go through the genealogy we read name after name, after name. According to some, the time that passed between Abraham and Jesus’ birth is some 2,000 years. We know there are 42 generations as this is also explained in Matthew.

So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations. ~ Matthew 1:17 KJB

According to the Testimony of Matthew one could deduce that Jesus Christ came from the lineage of Abraham. But did He? According to some Jesus came from the tribe of Judah. According to Matthew Judah, who we presume is where the tribe of Judas derived, Judas came from Abraham

Why is any of this important to our salvation, to our relationship with Jesus Christ and becoming an Ambassador of the Kingdom? Well, some could argue that it’s not. Knowing where we came from is vital to our success in life. Knowing our heritage is a key to knowing who we are in the Kingdom of God and knowing where we are going in the Kingdom of God. It has been said the further back in history one looks, the further into the future one can see. This is the reason knowing the Torah, the Old Testament, is crucial to our understanding of Jesus Christ and the New Testament, the New Covenant. When we understand how Jesus arrived we understand why Jesus came to save us and the world from our sins.

When we are discussing who we are in Jesus Christ, our Christ Identity and our role in the Kingdom, we need to clear the wreckage of our past. This is called confession. We need to turn our wreckage over to God, through Jesus Christ, and this is called repentance. Once we do this, our heart, mind and soul become sanctified in Jesus Christ, cleansed of our sin. We then can receive salvation, the mercy and grace of Jesus Christ that protects us from the wrath of God for our sins. At this moment the Holy Spirit falls on us and is with us from that moment forward.

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. ~ Romans 8:9-11 KJB

It is a time to rejoice. It is a time that we are alive in Jesus Christ and the time draws near that we celebrate His coming to save us. Let the bells ring, let the people sing and let there be a shout from every roof top that the King of kings, the Lord of lords, Emmanuel has come.

May God bless and keep you and yours in this day and all the days forevermore.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
