Be Strong And Of Good Courage…

When do we begin to take serious the writings of Moses, the Prophets, the Disciples and the Apostles? These “words on a page” are life. These are not merely “words on a page” but rather something like the breath the life itself. When we spend time in the Holy Bible are we getting in the Bible or are we getting the Bible in us? Are we breathing in the Word of God or are we simply reading a story?

When we walk in the presence of the Lord what should we fear? For what weapon could prosper when brought against us? None, is the only acceptable response. We should not walk in fear, we should not live in fear and we should keep on eye on Jesus Christ and allow the fear to blow past us. The sad part is we struggle with this aspect of our walk with Christ. We do allow fear to settle in around us. We do allow fear to make decisions and we do allow fear to take our eye off the Holy One to see what damage this weapon is about to do in our lives.

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. ~ Joshua 1:9 KJB

When we allow fear to drive-the-bus we should understand there are going to be problems. Some problems we may not be able to overcome. Some problems the Lord, our God, may not remove from us. We see it everyday. We see it in our community, in our nation and in our own family. When we look at the problem instead of the solution, the solution is God, that is when our lives can spiral out of control. We need to be brave in our Savior, Jesus Christ. We need to come to terms with the fact that bravery is being terrified to the core of our being while standing strong in the love of our God. Our God will not leave us, He will heal us and He will bring us home.

Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage. ~ Joshua 1:18 KJB

Our God, in the name of Jesus Christ, will not forsake us, will not leave us, will not turn His back on us. No, our God, in the name of Jesus Christ will be with us in the storm, in the heartache and in the pain. Our God is the Great I Am and He can, and will, do what He says He will do.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
