What Shall I Say Unto Them…
It’s a great day when the Lord, our God, speaks directly to us. Is this something that happens everyday, some days or on very rare occasions? Why not everyday? Why not throughout the day? Do we need a special occasion for the Lord to send an Angel to speak to us, deliver a message or shows us a new path to take? We think not. We believe as a person becomes closer to God, the great I AM, the great I AM can speak whenever He would like, as often as He would like. Right? So, why wouldn’t we seek, first, God’s voice all the time?
Moses goes up on the mountain and has an encounter with God in the form of a flame in the midst of a bush. The bush is unharmed. The Lord, after encountering Moses, sends an Angel to deliver a monologue to Moses. The Angel provides Moses with all kinds of instructions, blessings and explains Himself in detail to Moses and what’s about to happen in Moses’ life. Wouldn’t we want more of that in our life?
And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. ~ Exodus 3:13-15 KJB

when Moses ask God a question regarding what is God’s name, God responded. Why wouldn’t we ask God questions that are important to our relationship with Him? It seems like it would be one of the more natural things for a believer to do – find out how our relationship works. Moses ask – What am I suppose to say?
There are two things in these passages that both Jesus and the Apostle Paul reference. Jesus Christ confirms, without question, that He is the Son of God when Jesus announces that He is the Great I AM. Jesus goes on to repeat this seven times. The Apostle Paul, while still being the flesh of Saul, ask our Lord, Jesus Christ, “What do you want me to do?” This question is rich with flavor. The flavor of this moment is about our relationship with God. Moses ask “what do you want me to say?” and “who am I speaking with” as Saul ask “what do You want me to do?” and found inside of this question is – how do I become a believer? and what do You want me to know?.
Isn’t this what we all want to know – who is speaking to us in our mind, in our heart and that which makes manifest in our hand? Doesn’t every person, at some point in their life ask what they are suppose to be doing with their life? Yes, on both occasions.
Finding our deeper relationship with God is what most people want while some have no idea it is the most precious part of their life that is missing. Simply moving from task to task is all they know and they believe that is what makes up life. It is not. The task are merely items that fill the basket that belongs to Jesus Christ. A people have either forgotten this or they never knew it in the first place.
Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
