Then I Will Profess Unto Them…

Who is the accuser? Who is the deceiver? Well…it’s not Jesus. Jesus never once accuses anyone of being sinful. Jesus never once calls anyone of the individual disciples, or other people, in the Bible by anything other than their true identity. Who they are. Jesus doesn’t call anyone by “what” they are, but rather, who they are.

So the deceiver is the devil. The devil deceives us by attempting to tell us what we are and does his best to convince us that what we are is actually who we are. We are not what we do, we are, in fact, who Jesus calls us. We are, in fact, living in our Christ Identity if we so choose. Not everyone lives in their Christ Identity because they do not know who their identity in Christ is. If you don’t believe this is so ask around and what will be very quickly revealed is a serious lack of Christ Identity.

All of the people, the “multitudes”, the “masses”, the “great multitudes”, “people gathered”, all of these people listed in the Bible, do not know who they are in Christ. While Jesus does speak to the “multitudes” it seems as though He is actually teaching the Disciples. Is seems Jesus is addressing the Disciples and all the “multitudes” just happen to be there. More than likely the “multitudes” are waiting for the next loaf of bread, piece of fish or healing to take place – you know, “let the show begin”!!

It seems to be very clear that Jesus is speaking to the disciples and not the “innumerable multitudes troding upon one another” in this first passage of Luke 12.

In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. ~ Luke 12:1 KJB

If Jesus is speaking to the innumerable multitude of people then why does it say “he began to say unto his disciples first of all”? It reads like the “innumerable multitudes” just happen to be close by as Jesus turns to the disciples.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. ~ Matthew 7:22-23 KJB

It is impossible to make it any clearer.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
