Take Heed and Beware of Covetousness…
Where does our abundance come from? Is it found in our possessions, in our home, in our family in our bank account or is it found elsewhere? When we find ourselves in need what is it that is usually missing from our lives? A cup of sugar, a cup of flour, a TV, a car, a home or is it something completely different?
And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” ~ Luke 12:15 NKJB
We don’t own anything. We can act like we possess this item or that item, but when it comes down to it – we possess nothing. With some people their possessions actually own them, as they are so attached to their “stuff” they actually lose sight of what’s real, what’s fake and what’s in-between. We allow ourselves to be consumed by consumption. We allow ourselves to become so separated from God, Jesus Christ, that we lose all sense of who He is in our life. We lose all sense of where our identity originates. We lose sight of the fact that every hair on our head is accounted by Him, not by us, but by the hand of Jesus Christ who knows us so well that every hair on our head has been counted.

We make these outlandish claims regarding our knowledge, but we don’t know anything. What little knowledge we have amassed is from Our Savior, Jesus Christ. It is from the Mind of Christ not ourselves. He, the Lord, made everything that ever was, that is and that will ever be. So, how can we claim to know anything?
Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
