Let Him Ask…

Let Him Ask…

Most of us are familiar with “ask, seek and knock” from Matthew…

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. ~Matthew 7:7-8 NASB95

We go before our Father and through the blood of Jesus Christ, Emmanuel we ask, seek and knock upon the door so that it will be opened to us. What about the Book of James? The Book of James seems to internalize this directive from Jesus Christ, Emmanuel, and provides a beautiful picture of what it actually looks like. James re-minds us that we are “lacking in nothing” but we may need fresh ideas, fresh thoughts and new directions that have not been shown.

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. ~James 1:2-5 NASB95

When we seek the mind of Christ it will be given to us, as long as we ask for the betterment of humanity, the betterment of others or to achieve greater heights for community. We can ask for selfish reasons but it will be of little use as we are to put away our pride and humble ourselves before God. Let us not waiver in our asking but in bold confidence. Seek the mind of Christ, seek the answers to the question “What do you want me to know and what do you want me to do?” These are the open-ended questions that reveal the mind of Christ to us.

We are transported into His Heavenly realm where all knowledge lives. God will share with us, through the Holy Spirit, the nature and truth of questions we ask. “What do You want me to know about my husbands cancer?” What do You want me to know about my wives pregnancy/miscarriage?” “What do You want me to know about my child’s addiction/ideas about homosexuality/ideas about leaving school?” And just as the Apostle Paul ask of the Lord, in Acts 9, “what do You want me do?” This is seeking God’s will. This places all our fear at His feet. This places all our weakness in His hands making us dependent upon His strength and His strength alone. This opens our mind to explore His mind so that we may hear His voice, the voice we know because it is the only voice of Truth.

But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. ~James 1:6-8 NASB95

When we are standing on sand we can not get a solid foothold, we must be on solid rock for that to manifest. We should not expect our house to stand, our fortress to hold or our crops to produce to good fruit if we are unstable in all our ways. Our ways begin in our heart. Is our heart not connected to our mind?

but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. ~Matthew 5:28 NASB95

Our mind is a really bad place to be without Jesus. All kinds of negative phrases, deceits and accusations begin showing up. We have the means of stability in the mind of Christ. By rebuking those negative phrases, deceits and accusations, from the devil, rebuking them in the name of Jesus Christ, our mind becomes free and clear. As we ask, seek and knock upon the door… the mind of Christ opens to us.

Either the Gospel is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
