Entertained To Death…
Did this saying originate from Bible teachings? Did the masses, the nameless ones, in the Holy Bible, require entertainment from Jesus Christ in order to believe? Were it only the entertainment value the people saw, understood and accepted when Jesus unleashed His power in the form of a miracle?
In the Gospel of John, Jesus makes it clear that He is not interested in performing miracles, Jesus will perform miracles, but it is not the means in which He wishes to convert people.
When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and was imploring Him to come down and heal his son; for he was at the point of death. So Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you simply will not believe.” The royal official *said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.” Jesus *said to him, “Go; your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and started off. ~John 4:47-50 NASB95

We love helping others and believe that’s one of the reasons we are chosen as Ambassadors of the Kingdom, to serve God’s children. We look to the Greatest Commandment as our Powering force.
Why is so difficult for a person, today, that claims Christianity does not believe, truly believe, unless everything falls apart? Is “rock bottom” the place where Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit hang out? Is it the only place where we can find redemption? No, it is not, it’s just easier to see and a place where we are left with nothing but Jesus Christ to rely upon. We can come to this realization in every situation, with every step in our days and we can rely upon Jesus Christ for every breath we draw. It is our choice. This is what Jesus Christ was telling the royal official. Jesus does not need to perform like a circus animal in order for us to believe. We, however, refuse to drink from the well spring of Jesus Christ that lives in us.
Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
The woman *said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, so I will not be thirsty nor come all the way here to draw.” ~John 4:13-15 NASB95
Jesus, literally, just said to the Samaritan woman, but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life but she did not hear or she did not understand or…? I don’t know how it could be made much clearer. Why is it so hard to accept the love and salvation Jesus Christ offers unless we see signs and wonders?
Either the Gospel is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
