Daily Vows…
During our wedding ceremony vows were read, one to another. Having written vows from the heart we had them framed and hung in the family room. What a great way to honor the commitment made to one another before God, family and community? While this is a high honor it doesn’t go far enough.
Vows should be renewed everyday. Vows are a sacred commitment, desire to be who God wants us to be towards another person. Unless we live these vows, everyday, we are not living up to the commitment we made before God and to our spouse.
The same thing should happen everyday with Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ saved us, the Holy Spirit transformed us into a new creature and Jesus Christ gave us a new identity, our Christ identity.

Hear my cry, O God;
Attend to my prayer.
From the end of the earth I will cry to You,
When my heart is overwhelmed;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For You have been a shelter for me,
A strong tower from the enemy.
I will abide in Your tabernacle forever;
I will trust in the shelter of Your wings.
Selah
For You, O God, have heard my vows;
You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your name.
You will prolong the king’s life,
His years as many generations.
He shall abide before God forever.
Oh, prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him!
So I will sing praise to Your name forever,
That I may daily perform my vows. ~Psalm 61 NKJB
In renewing our vows everyday we can be taken to other places, beyond what we already know – placed on a rock higher than ourselves.
Either the Gospel is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
